Pickin' the Pickers in LeClaire, Iowa

I hadn't been to the American Pickers place for nearly three years. They have added a brick building that houses some of their TV finds and lots of souvenirs. The car which is a Nash Statesman Super is seen in many episodes and is located on the front of the property.

Their original store is still open and filled with picked items and souvenirs too. On this day - no Mike, no Frank and no Danielle but Emily who does the store's social media was there.

Inside the new brick building is the 1940 Indian motorcycle that Frank and Mike pulled from the earth in Salem, MA in April 2014 - Season 6, Episode 21. The title of the episode is the Legend of the Lost Indian.

Twilight Riverboat Recalls Olden Days on the Mississippi

The Riverboat Twilight runs a two-day excursion out of Le Claire, Iowa to Dubuque and back. Along the way the boat passes upriver at Lock and Dam #12 at Bellevue. This was the site on Sunday, October 9th. Details of the cruise can be found here.

The 166 mile route is some of the prettiest scenery found anywhere on the Mississippi River. Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin's common borders lay within the Mississippi River's valley. Large hills on either side of the river can be readily seen. On this day note the past water level on the Dam's rocky support behind the Riverboat Twilight. It appears to be down several feet.

As the Riverboat Twilight travels north to the Port of Dubuque for an overnight stay at the Grand Harbor Resort, passengers soak up some the near 80 degree weather for mid October. Upon the return to the home port at Le Claire, be sure to stop at the American Pickers (The History Channel) shop just a few blocks away. At times Danielle can be found there setting up the next trip for Frank and Mike. Know that.

Discovering the American Pickers in 42N Country

The History's Channel's hit show, American Pickers is based out of 42N's LeClaire, Iowa, just north of Davenport along the Mississippi River. Antique Archaeology featured on the show is located a block off the main street at 115 1/2 Davenport Street with store hours 11am - 4pm Mon-Sat or by appointment. The above two photos are of the business office featured on the show. Its where pickers Mike and Frank interact with Danielle, the organizer.

But where is the white truck that Mike and Frank use to cruise around the country to pick antiques from collectors? On this particular day the show's white truck was in town. LeClaire is not too big - drive around and you'll discover the truck (when in town) parked by a antique gas pump and signs. Which is, of course a sign that you have found an American Picker. Know that.
